I am an artist. I am a student and I am a teacher.
I am a dedicated practitioner of mindfulness and meditation, with a decades long practice, both on and off the cushion.
I am a devoted mother, daughter, partner, sister, auntie and friend. I love nourishing community through creating beautiful spaces and preparing delicious vegetarian food. At the tender age of nine I decided not to eat animals, I have been a vegetarian ever since.
I am a gardener. I grew up on an organic farm and was raised to live in conscious and responsible relationship with the natural world. I am grateful to Robin Wall Kimmerer for giving me the language of "reciprocity" for deepening my understanding of this life-long calling.
I am Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Certified Practitioner. I hold a BA in Cultural Anthropology and an MA in Counseling Psychology. I practiced as a somatic psychotherapist intern in California before returning to my New England roots and establishing Wakefulheart Practice - a mindfulness based practice serving groups and individuals. For over a decade, I have been teaching fiber arts and handcrafts (sprinkled with mindfulness and meditation) to grade school and middle school students. I recently returned to my heart's calling to teach mindfulness and guide practice, which I now do through One Red Pine.
I live on the southern coast of Maine where the sky, trees, rocks, rivers, plants, birds, islands, animals, insects, beaches, and marshes offer endless beauty, a source of grounding and a community for which I am deeply grateful.
