Practicing Mindfulness

Have you noticed that your life is filled with beauty, generosity, connection and belonging?
Have you noticed that your life is filled with fear, challenges, uncertainties and suffering?

Both are true.
But we are hardwired to notice everything that doesn't feel good (perceived and real threats) so that we are prepared to protect ourselves. Noticing goodness and safety is not as necessary for our survival and it often takes intentional practice to rewire our brains to notice when we feel good and calm. This is especially true for those of us who have experienced trauma.

It is extra hard these days, as there are endless ways - literally at our finger tips - to distract ourselves. Sometimes distraction is necessary and helpful. But the more we habitually and unconsciously reach for these distractions the further removed we become from what is actually happening in the present moment. We grow further away from experiencing things as they are, in our bodies, our minds, our hearts.

I offer spaces to reclaim and engage your attention, your heart, your whole and beautiful self.

PRACTICE MINDFULNESS

When you invite your awareness into the present moment, you make space to notice your thoughts, emotions and experiences. With presence and curiosity you become a witness and a reliable companion to yourself, in both your struggles and in your rightful place of belonging. Through practice you can come to know and trust in the fullness of who you are.

RECLAIM YOUR ATTENTION

You can learn to reclaim your attention from the never ending pull to do, have and be more - to be different than you are. Get to know the particular habits of your mind. Develop skills and practices that bring you into choice around where you place your attention and thereby how you inhabit your life.

CULTIVATE A COMPASSIONATE RESPONSE

Learn to greet difficult emotions, limiting beliefs and challenging experiences with the kindhearted warmth and care you would offer a loved one. Nurture a compassionate response to your life, not in spite of it all, but because of it all.

GROW YOUR INNER RESOURCES

Learn to generate and nurture internal and external resources that can support you. Develop practices that help you to engage these resources when navigating challenging or stressful times. Increase your overall sense of agency and tend to your overall wellbeing.

Attention is love. What you pay attention to matters.
